AN ORDINANCE PROHIBITING THE SALE AT RETAIL, FOR BEVERAGE PURPOSES,
OF ETHYL ALCOHOL, NEUTRAL SPIRITS OR SUBSTITUTES THEREFOR, AND
PROHIBITING THE POSSESSION FOR BEVERAGE PURPOSES OF SUCH ETHYL
ALCOHOL, NEUTRAL SPIRITS OR SUBSTITUTES.
THE COUNCIL OF THE VILLAGE OF MAPLEWOOD DOES ORDAIN:
Section 1. The retail sale, for beverage purposes, of ethyl alcohol or
neutral spirits, or substitutes therefor, possessing the taste, aroma and
characteristics generally attributed to ethyl alcohol or neutral spirits, as
such, is hereby prohibited, and no person shall have in his possession for use
as a beverage, any such ethyl alcohol, neutral Spirits or substitutes. Nothing
herein shall be construed to prohibit the manufacture or sale of other products
obtained by use of ethyl alcohol or neutral spirits as now defined in the
Standards of Identity for Distilled Spirits, Article Two (2) Regulation No. Five
(5), Federal Alcohol Administration.
Section 2. This ordinance is hereby declared to be an emergency ordinance
rendered necessary for the preservation of the public peace, health and safety.
Section 3. This ordinance shall take effect and be in force upon its
passage and publication.
