HomeMy WebLinkAbout04/08/2008 MEMORANDUM TO: FROM: SUBJECT: DATE: Acting City Manager Tom Ekstrand, Senior Planner CDRB Meeting Cancellation for April 8, 2008 April 1, 2008 MeetinQ Cancellation The April 8, 2008, community design review board (CDRB) meeting has been cancelled. Staff is working on the review for the Gethsemane Lutheran Church Senior Housing development and the Trails Edge Town Homes but these projects are not yet ready for submittal to the CDRB for review. The next CDRB meeting will be April 22, 2008. On that meeting, we plan on reviewing the Trails Edge Town Homes, electing a chair and vice chair for 2008 and discussing the comprehensive plan update. Comprehensive Plan Update As you are probably aware, city staff and city consultants are in the process of working on the 2008 comprehensive plan update. Our goal has been to present the applicable parts of the comprehensive plan to all city commissions and boards to review desired changes to the Plan that affect their areas of city involvement. The CDRB is different in that their responsibility is in the review of current development proposals and other site-specific matters, not future planning. Staff would like to discuss the comprehensive plan update with the board on April 22, however, to get any input and comments that the members have on this process and the revised plan document. I don't have any specific part or chapter of the plan to forward to you, though, since there is no clearly applicable part of the Plan that the CDRB uses as their guide in decision making. Comprehensive Plan Open House #1 The city staff and consultants are also scheduling the first of two open houses regarding the comprehensive plan update. The first one is scheduled for April 22, the same night as the next CDRB meeting. I apologize to any of you that may have wanted to attend this open house. We had a very difficult time reserving the Carver Elementary School gym for this meeting. This was the only date for which we could get the facility that was within our needed time frame to keep the process on schedule. We will be holding a second open house on May 22 at the Maplewood Community Center. At that time, we will have a final draft to present to the community for review and comment prior to council review. p:com_dvpt\community design review board\cancellation notice2
