MINUTES OF THE MAPLEWOOD COMMUNITY DESIGN REVIEW BOARD
1830 COUNTY ROAD B EAST, MAPLEWOOD, MINNESOTA
TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 19, 2019
6:00 P.M.
1. CALL TO ORDER
Chairperson Kempe called the meeting to order at 6:01 p.m.
2. ROLL CALL

Boardmember, Jason Lamers Absent
Vice Chairperson, Matt Ledvina Present
Boardmember, Ananth Shankar Present
Boardmember, Bruce Thompson Present
Staff Present: Shann Finwall, Environmental Planner
Jane Adade, Planner
3. APPROVAL OF AGENDA
Boardmember Ledvina moved to approve the agenda as approved.
Seconded by Boardmember Shankar. Ayes - All
The motion passed.
4. APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Boardmember Shankar moved to approve the January 15, 2019, CDRB minutes as submitted.
Seconded by Chairperson Kempe. Ayes – All
The motion passed.
5. DESIGN REVIEW
a. Comprehensive Sign Plan, Maple Pond Home Apartments, 1854 Beebe Road North
i. Planner, Jane Adade gave the report on the Comprehensive Sign Plan, Maple Pond
Home Apartments, 1854 Beebe Road North and answered questions of the board.
ii. Owner, Merna Ornstein of Imaginality Designs, 6182 Olson Memorial Hwy, Golden Valley,
addressed and answered questions of the board.
Boardmember Ledvina moved to approve a comprehensive sign plan for the Maple Pond Homes
at 1854 Beebe Road North with the following conditions:
1. Monument Sign: One monument sign not exceeding 45 square feet is allowed along Beebe
Road. The sign shall observe a 10-foot minimum setback from the property line.
2. Wall Sign: One wall sign not exceeding 24 square feet is allowed.

3. Directional Signs: Directional signs not exceeding 14 square feet and 6 feet in height are
allowed.
4. All signs with the exception of directional signs that meet the size and height restrictions shall
be individually permitted by the city.
5. Staff may approve minor changes.
Seconded by Boardmember Thompson. Ayes – All
The motion passed.
