AN ORDINANCE, RELATING TO THE PROHIBITING OF CERTAIN ACTS ON I , SA33ATH
DAY AND REGULATING AND LIMITING C011.19.1,RCIAL ACTIVITIES AND PRESCRIBING
PENALTIES FOR VIOLATION THEREOF.
THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF TEE VILLAGE OF 1.JaPLE OOD DOES ORDAIN:
Section 1. That inasmuch as the laws of the State of Ielinnesota prohibit
the doing on the first day of the week of certain acts specified in 1.innesota Statutes,
Section 614.29, which are serious interruptions of the repose and religious liberty
of the community, and the doing of any such acts on that day constitute Sabbath
breaking, the people of the Village of 1.1aplewood shall be protected by this ordinance,
which is made for the purpose of adopting said provision of the I:Iinnesota Statutes as
an ordinance within the Village.
Section 2. The term "day" as used in this ordinance includes all time
from 12:01 o'clock A.P;'I. until 12:00 o'clock P.M.
Section 3. All of the provisions of Section 61...29, 11innesota Statutes,
are by reference hereby made part of this ordinance and all of the provisions of
said section as heretofore and hereafter amended shall be enforceable as part of
this ordinance within the Village of I:'Iaplewood.
Section 4. Any person convicted of violating, of this ordinance shall be
guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction thereof shall be punished by a. fine not
exceeding One Hundred Dollars ($100.00) or by imprisonment for not exceeding ninety
(90) days, or both.
Section 5. This ordinance shall take effect and be in force upon its
passage and publication.
