HomeMy WebLinkAboutNo 251 Amending Chapter 401 of the Maplewood Code by Adding a New Section 401.011 Relating to Motor Vehicles and Prohibiting Unreasonable Acceleration ThereofORDINANCE NO. 251 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 401 OF THE MAPLEWOOD CODE BY ADDING A NEW SECTION 401.011 RELATING TO MOTOR VEHICLES AND PROHIBITING UNREASONABLE ACCELERATION THEREOF. THE COUNCIL OF THE VILLAGE OF MAPLEWOOD DOES HEREBY ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Chapter 401 of the Maplewood Codes is hereby amended by adding a new section 401.011 to read as follows: "401.011. UNREASONABLE ACCELERATION. No person shall start or accelerate any motor vehicle with an unnecessary exhibition of speed on any public or private way within the Village of Maplewood. Prima-facie evidence of such unnecessary exhibition of speed shall be squealing or screeching sounds emitted by the tires or the throwing of sand or gravel by the tires of said vehicle or both." Section 2. This ordinance shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage and publication. Passed by the Council of the Village of Maplewood this ,,c day of �� 1969. The Council of the Village of Maple• wood does hereby ordain as follows: Section 1. Chapter 401 of the Maple- wood Codes is hereby amended by add- ing a new section 401.011 to read as follows: "401.011. UNREASONABLE ACCEL. ERATION. No persom shall start or ac. celmmte any motor vehicle with an un- necessary exhibition of speed on any public or private way within the Vil- lage of Maplewood. '(5) said newspaper purports to serve the Village of North St. Paul in the County of Ramsey and it has its known office of issue in the Village of North St. Paul in said county, established and open during its regular business hours for .the gathering of news, sale of advertisements and sale of subscriptions and main- tained by the publisher of said newspaper or persons in his employ and subject to his direction and control during all such regular business hours at which said newspaper is printed. (6) Said news- paper files a copy of each issue immediately with the State Historical Society. (7) Said newspaper has complied with all the foregoing conditions for at least two years preceding the day or dates of publi- cation mentioned below. (8) Said newspaper has filed with the Secretary of State of Minnesota prior to January 1, x19'66, and each January 1 thereafter an affidavit in the form prescribed by the Secretary of State and signed by the publisher and sworn to before a notary public stating that the newspaper is a legal newspaper.
