AN ORDINANCE LICENSING AND REGULATING WAGON VENDORS, DEFINING
SUCH VENDORS AND PROVIDING PENALTY FOR VIOLATION THEREOF.
THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF THE VILLAGE OF 1d1APLEWOOD DOES ORDAIN:
Section 1. No person who sells any merchandise, including popcorn,
soft drinks, ice cream or other confectionery from a wagon, truck, automobile,
pushcart or other vehicle shall operate in the Village of Maplewood without
first procuring a license for such business as herein provided; except that
this shall not apply to farmers selling their own produce.
Sec. 2. Application for a wagon vendor's license shall be made to
the Clerk of the Village on a form to be provided by the Clerk. The fee for such
license shall be $25.00 per year, and the license period shall be the calendar
year. The license fee for any part of a year shall be the same as for a full
year. The clerk shall first obtain approval of the Council member in charge of
public safety before issuing such license.
Sec. 3. The applicant shall specify in what area or portion of the
'Tillage he desires to operator, and the license,when issued, shall be limited to
such area. Residents of the Village of Maplewood shall be accorded preference
in the issuance of licenses and in the designation of territories. Not more than
one license shall be 6 -ranted for a specific area or portion of the Village except
pursuant to authorization by the Village Council.
Sec. 4. The Council shall by resolutiondetermine from time to time
how many operating areas, defining the limits thereof, shall be established in
the Village.
Sec. 5. Any licensee hereunder shall be held responsible for nuisance
emanating from his operation; and, shall not permit debris, paper, bottles,

cartons, or other kinds of waste from his merchandise to be deposited on any
public or private property. No such licensee shall park his vehicle in any
place or in any manner that constitutes a traffic hazard or a neighborhood
nuisance.
Sec. 6. Any person or licensee who violates any provision of this
ordinance shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and, upon conviction thereof, shall
be subject to a fine of not more than One Hundred Dollars ($100.00) or imprison-
ment of not more than ninety (90) days.
Sec. 7. This ordinance shall take effect from and after its passage
and publication.
