CALL TO ORDER A meeting of the Commission was held in the City Hall Council Chambers and was called to order at 7:00 p.m. by City Clerk, Director Citizen Services Karen Guilfoile. 2. ROLL CALL Commissioners Jon Brandt, Commissioner Present William Joanis, Commissioner Present Jeffrey Kringle, Commissioner Present Arianne Maxwell, Commissioner Present Marie Ridgeway, Commissioner Present Laurie Rose Simon, Commissioner Present Charlotte Winnen, Commissioner Absent Attendees: City Council James Llanas, City Councilmember, Council Liaison Staff Karen Guilfoile, City Clerk, Director Citizen Services Chuck Bethel, Human Relations Attorney, Staff Liaison 3. APPROVAL OF AGENDA The agenda is approved as submitted. 4. APPROVAL OF MINUTES There are no Human Rights Commission minutes to approve as this time as this is the first meeting held. 5. NEW BUSINESS a. City Council Welcome – Councilmember James Llanas City Councilmember Llanas gave a warm welcome and introduction to the members of the Human Rights Commission members. b. Swearing In of Commission Members City Clerk, Director Citizen Services, Karen Guilfoile swore in the commission members as a group. January 11, 2011 Human Rights Commission Meeting Minutes 2 c. Staff Introduction and Background of the Human Rights Commission City Clerk, Director Citizen Services, Karen Guilfoile gave the introduction and background of the Human Rights Commission. d. Human Rights Commission Members Introductions and Goals for the Commission Each of the Human Rights Commission members briefly introduced themselves and gave some goals for serving on the commission. e. Review of Ordinance #907 Governing the Human Rights Commission Human Relations Attorney, Staff Liaison, Chuck Bethel introduced and discussed the Ordinance for Governing the Human Rights Commission. f. Establishing Regular Meeting Date City Clerk, Director Citizen Services stated that based on the commission member’s availability the Human Rights Commission will meet the second Tuesday of the month at 7:00 p.m. The next meeting will be held Tuesday, February 8, 2011. 6. UNFINISHED BUSINESS None. 7. VISITOR PRESENTATIONS None. 8. COMMISSION PRESENTATIONS None. 9. STAFF PRESENTATIONS None. 10. ADJOURNMENT Ms. Guilfoile adjourned the meeting at 8:00 p.m.
