1. CALL TO ORDER
Chair Roman indicated there was a quorum and called the meeting to order.

6. UNFINISHED BUSINESS
a. CIP Discussion
Mr. Taylor, Recreation Manager, presented the report.
The commission extensively discussed the CIP.
Commissioner Fischer moved to not recommend gpproval of the Parks portion of the CIP Project
pro
Commissioner Fischer also moved to list all reasons ��vh the CIP is not recommended for qP . val.
Seconded by Commissioner Maas. Ayes: All
The Commission approached the second portion of the previous motion. The commission listed and
discussed their concerns in regards to the CIP, beginning with the Savannah Report.
Commissioner Fischer moved that item I in the Savannah CIP Report be qpProved. Item 2 would be
gp-proved as listed', with the modification of the word admit to adamant, and the addition of the
following sentence: No PAC dollars &om outside Gladstone should be used on the Savannah Pro-ject.
Item 3 would be excluded from the report
Seconded by Commissioner Schmidt. Ayes: All
The motion passed.
Commissioner Sonnek moved to support the recommendation of Staff to add the proposed Trail money
back into the CIP.
Commissioned Fischer amended the motion as follows: Item L, under Trails, would remain intact. A
second item would be added that states: The Parks and Recreation Commission supports Staff
recommendation to put the $75, 000 for Trail development back into the 2011 CIP..

CIP.

addition, Commissioner Sonnek moved to not sLipport the inclusion of Public Works infrastructure as

Commissioner Sonnek moved that Staff look into providing more information on establishing an Ado -pt -
A -Park Program in Mplewood.

9. COMMISSIONER COMMENTS
Commissioner Sonnek thanked and commended the initiative of the Maplewood citizen who beautified
Playcrest Park.
Commissioner Brannon provided his thanks for the striping of the crosswalk on the trail at Sunset Ridge
that continues down to Little Canada.
Commissioner Christianson updated the commission on status of the Extreme Green Makeover.
Commissioner Maas inquired if there were any updates regarding the lighting on the trail at Kennard.
Commissioner Fischer suggested a sign be placed at the trail crossing at Mcknight by all. He also
inquired if there was a long to plan in place that will address the eventual arrival of Emerald Ash
Borer. He also noted that he heard some complaints about the lack of signs notifying the public oft e
cancellation of fireworks.
Commissioner Roman inquired about the response regarding advertisements at Goodrich Park. He alsit,
mentioned that the Dog Park discussion should resume in August.
