The name “Change One” comes from the Reader’s Digest book titled “Change One: Lose Weight
Simply, Safely, and Forever”. The concept involves making one change to your lifestyle and diet each
week in order to lose weight. As I was reading the book, the idea came to me that this concept could
work in other areas of my life including being a better steward of the earth.

was held on October 12th. The general manager from SPRWS
explained the progress made with residents at the stakeholder
meetings. The permit for the site will be reviewed in 6 months
to ensure conditions are being met and residents are informed
of activities by SPRWS. The process to resolve issues was very

Winter Outdoor Skating
Maplewood maintains nine skating rinks throughout the city, four of which have supervised shelters.
Skating facilities and shelters, depending on weather conditions, will open December 26 and close
February 20. Shelters will not be open when temperatures reach 10 degrees below zero or the
windchill reaches 25 degrees below zero. Shelters will also be closed until the rinks are cleared

A naturalist will show you how to strap on and walk, run, and turn around with your snowshoes, answer nature questions, and orient you

Build a birdfeeder to attract birds to your yard. Dress for an outdoor birdwatching hike.
All proceeds go to Elpis Enterprises, a youth job training program, which assembled the kits made
from reclaimed wood products.Cost is $6.00 per feeder and pre-payment is required by January 5.
Snowshoe Hike
(ages 4+ with an adult)
SATURDAY, JANUARY 23, 1:00 – 2:30PM
Learn about snowshoes, strap on a pair, and walk through our Winter Wonderland. Instruction
and snowshoes provided. Wear sturdy winter boots and bring your own mug for hot drinks.
If snow is scarce, we will go on a winter hike instead to look for animal tracks and signs.
Cost is $5.00 per person and pre-payment is required by January 21.
