1. Meeting commenced: 1 :00 p.m.
2. Commissioners Present:
Ron Cockriel, Friends of Maplewood Nature
Ginny Gaynor, City of Maplewood
John Moriarty, Ramsey County Parks
Carolyn Peterson, Parks Commission
Ginny Yingling, Environment and NR
3. Ex-Officio Members Present:
None
4. Action Items:
a. Motion by Commissioner Cockriel, seconded by Moriarty, to approve
agenda. Approved 5 to O.
b. Motion by Commissioner Cockriel, seconded by Commissioner Moriarty, to approve
December 18, 2009 minutes. Approved 5 to O.
c. Motion made by Commissioner Moriarty, seconded by Commissioner Cockriel to add
additional language to page 11: "This parcel contains archeological artifacts (see
page 4)." Approved 5 to O.
d. Motion made by Commissioner Cockriel, seconded by Commissioner Moriarty, to add
the following on page 1: "MNRAA is part of the national park system." Approved 5 to
O.
e. Motion made by Commissioner Moriarty, seconded by Commissioner Cockriel, to
replace MNRAA paragraph on page 4 of the report with language in January 15,
2010. Approved 5 to O.
f. Motion made by Commissioner Cockriel, seconded by Commissioner Moriarty, to
revise recommendation #15 to read: "The commission recommends that the city hold
a bonding referendum to raise funds for open space acquisition and management,
that includes but is not limited to the Fish Creek Natural Area Greenway, and that the
city seek the services of Trust for Public Land to assist with developing the
referendum." Approved 5 to O.
g. Motion made by Commissioner Peterson, seconded by Commissioner Yingling, to use
the map being created showing the overall vision for the area and not Met Council
Bikeway map. Approved 5 to o.
5. Discussion items:
a. Report on presentations to other groups. Commissioners reported on their
presentations to:
i. Friends of Maplewood Nature, January 9, 2010
ii. Ramsey County's Parks and Recreation Commission, January 12, 2010
iii. Environmental and Natural Resources Commission, January 19, 2010
iv. Parks and Recreation Commission, January 20, 2010
All groups supported the report and its recommendations.
b. Reviewed draft report. Commissioners made changes to the report that will be
incorporated by staff.
6. Follow-up Items:
a. Commissioner Gaynor will make final changes on the report and complete the maps.
b. Commissioners Yingling and Gaynor will prepare presentation for council.

This is the final meeting of the Fish Creek Natural Area
The commission will present their recommendations to city
Ad-Hoc Commission.
on February 1, 2010.
