CALL TO ORDER A meeting of the Maplewood Board of Adjustments and Appeals was held in the Council Chambers, Municipal Building, and was called to order at 8:21 P.M. by Chairman Wiegert. B. ROLL CALL Donald J. Wiegert, Chairman Present Norman G. Anderson Present John C. Greavu Present Burton A. Murdock Present Earl L. Nelson Present C. APPROVAL OF MINUTES 1. Minutes of Meeting No. 79 -10 (September 6, 1979) Councilman Murdock moved that the Minutes of Meeting No. 79 -10 (September 6, 1979) be approved as submitted. Seconded by Councilman Anderson. Ayes - all. D. PUBLIC HEARINGS 1. Variance - 2243 DeSoto Street - Clark - 8:00 P.M. a. Chairman Wiegert convened the meeting for a public hearing regarding a request of Roger A. Clark, 2243 DeSoto Street for a variance from the maximum garage size as outlined in the Maplewood Code. The Clerk stated the public hearing notice was found to be in order and noted the dates of publication. b. Manager Evans presented the staff report with the recommendation of approval, of the 30 square foot garage size variance, based on the following: 1. The present single family dwelling and the proposed garage are the only planned uses for the Applicant's 23,231 square foot R -1, single family residence, lot. 2. The requested variance meets the intent of the ordinance. 3. Strict enforcement of the maximum garage size would cause an undue hardship. c. Chairman Les Axdahl presented the following Planning Commission recom- mendation: Commissioner Pellish moved the Planning Commission recommend to the Board of Adjustments and Appeals approval of the proposed garage size variance based on the following: 10/18 1. The present single family dwelling and the proposed garage are the only planned uses for the applicant's 23,231 square foot R -1 Single Family Residence Lot. 2. The requested variance meets the intent of the ordinance. 3. Strict enforcement of the maximum garage size would cause an undue hardship, in that the granting of the variance would be an accommodation for facilitating the handicap. Commissioner Howard seconded. Ayes all. d. Chairman Wiegert called proponents. None were heard. e. Chairman Wiegert called for opponents. None were heard. f.
