a. Chairman Murdock convened the meeting for a public hearing regarding the
request of Mr. Roger Stanke, 1122 E. County Road C, for a side and rear yard
setback variance. The Acting Clerk read the notice of hearing along with the
dates of publication.
b. Manager Miller presented the staff report recommending the variances be
denied due to the fact the applicant has not demonstrated any unique character-
istics of the property and to grant the variances would constitute a special
privilege.
c. Chairman Les Axdahl presented the following Planning Commission recommendation:
"Commissioner Howard moved the Planning Commission recommend to the City Council
that the 10 foot variance to the setback be granted as requested in the case of
the addition to the dwelling, since the addition would extend into the setback
a lesser distance than the present garage, that the house is more than the re-
quired 30 foot setback from County Road C and it is not felt that the addition
would obstruct the vision of traffic on either County Road C or the service Road
and also there is some question as to when this property technically became a
corner lot.
Commissioner Prew seconded. Ayes all.
Commissioner Waldron moved that the subject of the setback variance as applied
to the garage be tabled until information is developed regarding access to the
garage from the service lane.
Commissioner Fischer seconded. Ayes all."
d. Chairman Murdock called for persons who wished to be heard for or against
the proposal. The following were heard:
Mr. Roger Stanke, 1122 E. County Road C, the applicant, stated he does not
need the variance for the garage, just for the home.
