A. CALL TO ORDER
A meeting of the Board of Appeals and Adjustments of the City of Maplewood, Minnesota,
was held in the Council Chambers, Municipal Building and was called to order at 7:55
P.M. by Chairman Murdock.

C. APPROVAL OF MINUTES
1. Minutes No. 75 -7 (October 30, 1975)
Councilman Greavu moved to approve the Minutes of Meeting No. 75 -7 (October 30
1975) as submitted.
Seconded by Chairman Murdock.
Ayes - all.
Chairman Murdock recessed the meeting at 7:57 P.M.
Chairman Murdock reconvened the meeting at 8:00 P.M.
D. PUBLIC HEARINGS
1. Variance (Parking Requirement) - 1762 White Bear Avenue - Karate Center 8:00 P.M.
a. Chairman Murdock convened the meeting for a public hearing regarding a request
for a variance to waive the required number of parking stalls for commercial use.
The Clerk read the notice of hearing along with the dates of publication.
b. Manager Miller presented the staff report and stated it is recommended that
the requested variance be denied because of the considerable parking need capable
of being generated by the proposed use.
c. Manager Miller presented the following Planning Commission recommendation:
"Commissioner Barrett moved that the Commission recommend to the City Council the
variance be granted due to the fact that this is an existing building and is with-
out major parking problems.
Commissioner Fischer seconded. Ayes - all."
d. Mr. Jay Hyon, President of Karate Center, the applicant, spoke on behalf of
the proposal.

e. Chairman Murdock called for persons who wished to be heard for or against
the proposal. None were heard.
f. Chairman Murdock closed the public hearing.
g. Councilman Anderson moved to grant the variance as requested by Karate Center,
1762 White Bear Avenue due to the fact that this is an existing building and is
without mayor parking roblems.
Seconded by Councilman Greavu. Ayes - all.
