o PUBLIC HEARINGS
1. Board of Appeals and Adjustment (Yard Width Variance) - Meyer Street (7:45 P.M.)
a. Chairman Murdock convened the meeting for a public hearing regarding the
yard width variance to build a single family dwelling on a lot 72.04 feet in
width. Maplewood codes require a 75 foot width lot and 10,000 square feet. The
Clerk read the notice of hearing along with the dates of publication.
b. Manager Miller presented the staff report with the recommendation that the
requested variance be granted for the following reasons:
1. The variance would be in keeping with the spirit of the Zoning Code;
2. The lot is abutted to the north by a lot having a width far in excess
of the required frontage; and
3. The proposed variance is relatively minor.
c. Commissioner Howard presented the following Planning Commission recommendation:
"Commissioner Kent moved that the Planning Commission recommend to the City
Council that the variance be granted, since it is within the spirit of the
zoning code and the variance is relatively minor.
Commissioner Fischer seconded. Motion carried - Ayes all."
d. Chairman Murdock called for proponents. The following were heard:
Mrs. Hughes, the applicant, spoke on behalf of the proposal.
