A. CALL TO ORDER
A special meeting of the Village Council of Maplewood, Minnesota was
held in the Council Chambers, Municipal Building and was called to
order at 7:32 P.M. by Mayor Axdahl.
B. ROLL CALL
Lester G. Axdahl, Mayor Present
John C. Greavu, Councilman Present
Harald L. Haugan, Councilman Present
Patricia L. Olson, Councilwoman Present
Donald J. Wiegert, Councilman Present
C. PUBLIC HEARING
1. 1972 Budget
a. Mayor Axdahl convened the meeting for a public hearing regarding
adoption of the 1972 Budget. A tax law adopted by the 1971
Legislature limits the tax levy of Municipalities.
b. Manager Miller stated that the Village budget is within the
tax levy limits imposed by the new tax law. There are 3 increases
in the budget that were not included in the budget as it was
previously adopted on October 5, 1971 1) Sewer Debt Levy of
$100,000 in lieu of partial sewer charge 2) Clerk- Typist to
help with increased clerical demands - $8,200.00 3) Three
police officers - $41,000.
c. Councilwoman Olson moved to approve the increase to the 1972
Budget of $100,000 sewer debt levy in lieu of partial sewer charge.
Seconded by Councilman Wiegert. Ayes - all.
d. Councilman Wiegert moved to approve the addition of hiring a
Clerk- typist for the Administrative offices in the 1972 Budget.
Seconded by Councilman Greavu. Ayes - Mayor Axdahl,
Councilwoman Olson,
Councilmen Greavu and
Wiegert.
Nay - Councilman Haugan
e. Councilwoman Olson moved to approve the addition of hiring 3
police officers to the 1972 Budget.
Seconded by Councilman Greavu. Ayes - all.

2. Certification of 1972 Budget
a. Councilman Greavu introduced the following resolution and moved
its adoption:
71 - 12 - 287
RESOLVED that the following sums be, and hereby are, levied
upon the taxable property in the Village of Maplewood, State of
Minnesota, for the tax year 1972, for the following purposes, to
wit:
For General Village Purposes $778,708.00
For Debt Redemption 339,700.00
Seconded by Councilman Wiegert. Ayes - all.
