MINUTES
A. CALL TO ORDER
The Council/Manager meeting of the Maplewood City Council was held in the
Maplewood Room, City Hall. The meeting was called to order by Acting Mayor Carlson
at 6:02 p.m.

Councilperson Dale Carlson Present
Councilperson Fran Juker Present
Councilperson George Rossbach Present
Councilperson Joseph Zappa Present
Others Present:
City Manager Michael McGuire
Human Resource Director Gail Blackstone
City Attorney Patrick Kelly
Public Safety Director Kenneth Collins
Fire Marshal Jim Embertson
C. APPROVAL OF AGENDA
The following items were added to the agenda:
E. OTHER BUSINESS
1. Cave Addition: County Road C and Germain
Z. Update: State Aid
Councilmember Zappa moved that the agenda be approved as amended. The motion
was seconded by Councilmember Rossbach and was approved.
Ayes: Bastian, Juker, Rossbach, Zappa and Carlson

D. General Discussion of Public Safetv Issues
There was considerable discussion of Public Safety issues on the need for
improved cooperation and efficiencies between the City and the various fire
departments. Emphasis was on ensuring that public health and safety were not
compromised while, looking at defining needs and services to be rendered. There
was no specific action taken.
Public Safety Director Kenneth Collins and Fire Marshal Jim Embertson lefr the meeting
at 6:50 p.m.
E. OTHER BUSINESS
1. Cave Addition: County Road C and Germain
Councilmember Zappa raised a question regarding developer requirement
from preliminary plat to put fence around perimeter. City Manager
McGuire will review the conditions for requiring reinstallation of fence.
2. Update -State Aid
City Manager McGuire reported that the Sales Tax option had been sent to
the Governor for signature. The effective date would be June 1, 1992.
