CALL TO ORDER: A special meeting of the City Council of Maplewood, Minnesota was held in the Maplewood Room, Municipal Building, and was called to order at 5:10 P.M. by Mayor Rossbach. B. APPROVAL OF AGENDA Mayor Rossbach moved to approve the Agenda as submitted. Seconded by Councilmember Allenspach Ayes -all C. AWARD OF BIDS 1. Bruentrup Farm Relocation Project a. Manager McGuire introduced the staff report. b Assistant to the City Managerpresentedthe specifics of the report and stated that the city received three bids for the project. Bids were opened at 10:00 am. on Thursday, September 23, 1999. The results are: TABULATION OF BIDS Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, a special meeting of the officials designated for a bid opening by the City Council of Maplewood was convened at 10 am., September 23, 1999. The purpose of this meeting was to receive, open and publicly read aloud bids for Bruentrup Farmstead Relocation Project, City Project 99-10. Present were: Mike Ericson and Chris Cavett Following the reading of the notice of advertisement for bids, the following bids were opened and read: Calendar Base Total Bid Bid Days to Bidder Bid Deduct 1 Deduct 2 W/Deducts Bond Complete George F. Co. $265,800 $35,000 $4,300 $226,500 5% 120 Grans Contracting Inc. 260,800 42,000 4,100 214,700 5% 255 Jay Bros., Inc. 288,200 50,000 7,500 230,700 5% 240 Pursuant to prior instruction of the council, the city clerk referred the bids received to the city engineer instructing him to tabulate same and report with his recommendation at a future meeting of the city council. Meeting adjourned at 10:15 a.m. Councilmember Koppen moved to reject all bids because they are significantly higher that the engineer's estimate. Seconded by Councilmember Kittridge Ayes -all Councilmember Koppen moved to authorize city staff to re-bid a scaled down project and set bid opening for 2:00 p. m., Monday October 11, 1999 and bid award at 7:00 p. m. Monday, October 11, 1999 at the regularly scheduled city council meeting. Seconded by Mayor Rossbach Ayes -all D. ADJOURNMENT Councilmember Koppen moved to adjourn the meeting at 5:28 P.M.
