CITY OF MAPLEWOOD HERITAGE PRESERVATION COMMISSION
Thursday, March 12, 2026 – 7 PM

D. NEW BUSINESS
1. Forest Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum designate
-- Commissioner Cardinal, who is also a board member of the FLMP, indicated the
organization is not interested in applying for local designation because of the requirements
of historic preservation. Having to ensure exterior upgrades meet period specific would be
prohibitive and costly.
2. Maplewood Heritage Award
-- Sheeran indicated the nomination portal is open until April 30. Notices would go out via April
Living and Social media.
3. Member Update
-- Sheeran indicated a new member would be joining the HPC at the May meeting. Council voted to
approve appointing the lone applicant.
4. 106 Report Monopole at the Ski Jump
5. Demo Permits -- none
6. Historical Society Update
-- Hughes, as a co-board member of HPC and MAHS, withdrew item from agenda
7. Ordinance discussion
-- Added by Commissioner Currie. Discussion clarified the three properties over which the HPC has
jurisdiction. It further highlighted that if HPC desires to review design and planning of other
properties, it must work with property owners to secure official local/federal historic designation.
