understood in a reasonable manner. We appreciate the fact that when appearing at Commission meetings, it is
understood that everyone will follow these principles:

colleagues to speak for the group or for citizens in the form of a petition.
Show respect during comments and/or discussions, listen actively and do not interrupt or talk amongst each other.
Be respectful of the process, keeping order and decorum. Do not be critical of Commission members, staff or

Welcome Katelyn Bergstrom, Maplewood’s New Natural
Resources Coordinator
Katelyn Bergstrom has always felt at home in the outdoors,
and now she’s bringing that lifelong passion to Maplewood
as our Natural Resources Coordinator.
Originally from the Twin Cities, Katelyn recently returned
after going to school at the University of Minnesota, Morris
and attaining her Master’s in Environmental Studies at
Bemidji State University. Her thesis focused on Black-
backed and Three-toed woodpeckers in Northern
Minnesota.
Katelyn’s professional background includes years of
experience in natural resources, including roles as a Loon
Specialist for the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources and a Clean Water Specialist for the
Beltrami County Soil and Water Conservation District.
“In natural resources, you’re never doing the same thing day to day,” she says. “Getting to be outside,
engage with people, and care for our ecosystems is incredible.”
She strives to ensure all members of the community—whether two-legged, four-legged, or rooted—
continue to have access to healthy, thriving natural spaces, and to engage deeply with residents and
community partners in the process.
When she’s not in the field, you can find Katelyn kayaking, baking, or recharging with her dogs.
