MEMORANDUM
TO: Police Civil Service Commission
FROM: Terrie Rameaux, Human Resource Coordinator/Staff Liaison
DATE: May 5, 2017
SUBJECT: Consider Approval of Background Investigations for Suburban Law
Enforcement Police Trainee Candidates and Certify Names for Vacancy
Introduction/Background
Background packets were sent out to the top candidates on the Suburban Law
Enforcement Police Trainee Eligibility List the end of April. The Police Department has
completed backgrounding on the top 4 candidates on the eligibility list. The
backgrounds have been labeled randomly, A through D, for anonymity.
Police Chief Schnell is requesting that the Commission review the attached completed
background investigations on these four candidates and certify the candidates. Upon
certification, the next step is to make conditional offers to the top two candidates, with
approval of the City Manager. The candidates must also complete and pass the pre-
employment physical, physical agility and the psychological exams before be hired.
The start date for the two candidates is scheduled for June 5, 2017. Their schooling will
begin June 12, 2017 and run 16 weeks.
Recommendation
It is recommended that the Police Civil Service Commission 1) approve the
backgrounds for candidates A through D and 2) certify the candidates for vacancy.
