SUBJECT: Rotate Chair and Secretary
DATE: January 26, 2012
BACKGROUND
In accordance with MN State Statute 419, the Commission is to hold a mandatory
meeting the first Monday in February and rotate the Chair position. Normally, the
Chair’s seat rotates to the Commission member who is currently in the last year of their
term. Commission Member Lisa Liddell is in the last year of her term which expires
12/31/12. Commissioner Liddell served as Chair last year due to the fact that the
Commissioner that should have been Chair was unable to fulfill that responsibility.
This is also the meeting at which the Secretary position is also rotated. Past practice
has been that the Commissioner in the second year of their term serve as Secretary.
Commissioner Debra Birkholz is in the second year of her term. She served as
Secretary last year due to the same circumstances indicated above.
RECOMMENDATION
In order to fulfill the State Statue requirement and get back on track, it is recommended
that Commissioner Liddell remain the Chair and Commissioner Birkholz remain the
Secretary for 2012.
