Staff Presentations Acting Chief Kvam addressed the commission regarding possibly allowing the Chief to offer more of an opinion on approving or rejecting a candidate based on the interaction with that candidate during the background process, which might include other factors that would deem the candidate not necessarily a good hire for Maplewood. Acting Chief Kvam also mentioned that there are several openings due to recent retirements and terminations. He mentioned the possibility of exploring an internal recruitment which would be extended to include Maplewood's Police Reserves. Reserves are not considered city employees. City Attorney Kantrud stated that this is a good idea but that the criteria would need to be articulated clearly to the candidates. Further research is needed. There was also discussion regarding vacating the current list to start a new process. 10.Adjourn Meeting adjourned at 8:40 a.m.
