Commission Liaison Terrie Rameaux commented on the status of filling the
commission vacancy as a result of Steven Gunn’s resignation. She stated
that there were four candidates that applied for the vacancy and that a formal
appointment would be made by the City Council sometime in December.
Chief Thomalla stated the current eligibility list expires November 19, 2010.
There are currently three certified names remaining on this list from which
one current vacancy will be filled.
Chief Thomalla informed the commission that the latest hires for the Police
Department were James Parker and Amy Nash. One of the hires prior to
these two new hires voluntarily resigned thus creating the current vacancy.
Scott Langner is still serving as acting sergeant due to a sergeant still out on
a lengthy medical issue.
Chief Thomalla stated he anticipates the retirement of a sergeant. Hopefully
after the new commissioner is appointed, there can be discussion regarding
establishing a new list for both police officers and sergeants.
