Roll Call Members Present: Steve Gunn, Chair Marlene Palkovich, Secretary Members Absent: Lisa Liddell Others Present: Commission Liaison Terrie Rameaux Police Chief, David Thomalla Alan Kantrud, City Attorney 3. Approval of the Agenda Commissioner Palkovich motioned to approve the April 29, 2010 agenda. Chair Gunn seconded the motion. Ayes – All 4. Approval of Minutes: a. February 1, 2010 Commissioner Palkovich motioned to approve the February 1, 2010 meeting minutes. Chair Gunn seconded the motion. Ayes – All 5. New Business a. Request to remove Police Officer Candidate from Police Officer Eligibility List Chief Thomalla requested that candidate #35 be removed from the list. The candidate did not return his background packet nor did he complete a withdrawal notice, as required by the process. Commissioner Palkovich motioned to remove candidate #35 from the Police Officer Eligibility List. Chair Gunn seconded the motion. Ayes – All b. Review and approve backgrounds for police officer candidates and certify names for vacancy The Commission discussed the background of candidate #22. Commissioner Palkovich motioned to approve the background investigation summary for candidate #22. Chair Gunn seconded the motion. Ayes – All The Commission discussed the background of candidate # 30. Commissioner Palkovich motioned to approve the background investigation summary for candidate #30. Chair Gunn seconded the motion. Ayes – All Commissioner Palkovich motioned to certify candidates #22 and #30 for vacancy. Chair Gunn seconded the motion. Ayes – All 2 6. Unfinished Business 7. Staff Presentations Chief Thomalla addressed the Commission on the status of a current acting sergeant position as it pertains to Section 16 of the Police Civil Service Commission Bylaws regarding temporary acting positions. He stated that in this case he believes it does not apply to the current situation with the acting sergeant as this is not a temporary appointment as defined by the Bylaws. The acting sergeant is replacing another sergeant who has been on medical leave/workers comp situation. If this sergeant is not able to return his full duties as a sergeant, we would go through another testing process for sergeant to refill the position. 10. Adjourn The commission adjourned at 8:15 am.
