Recommended Action: This item is for discussion purposes, and no action is necessary. Fiscal Impact: Is There a Fiscal Impact? In addition, the city promotes quality housing, commercial development and business growth. Background: In August of 2024 the EDA started the process of discussing their role and opportunities that exist for economic development in the City of Maplewood. In February and March of 2025, concurrent meetings were held with the EDA and City Council to continue the discussion. In April of 2025 the EDA discussed the draft mission, vision and values statements around economic development in Maplewood. Additional feedback was provided, and the mission, vision and values statements were updated to reflect the suggested changes. Creating programs and policies that encourage and support revitalization and reinvestment in existing homes and businesses. Providing financial support for creating new homes, businesses, and neighborhoods for the next generation. Vision Statement Maplewood is a vibrant, thriving city of choice – driving economic vitality, expanding diverse housing, nurturing vibrant neighborhoods, and promoting a sustainable environment, while fostering a community that reflects opportunity and a passion for its future.
