Friday, August 16, 2023 City Hall, Council Chambers Meeting No. 16-24 A. CALL TO ORDER A special meeting of the City Council was held in the City Hall Council Chambers and was called to order at 4:00 p.m. by Mayor Abrams. B. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE C. ROLL CALL Marylee Abrams, Mayor Present Rebecca Cave, Councilmember Present Kathleen Juenemann, Councilmember Present Chonburi Lee, Councilmember Present Nikki Villavicencio, Councilmember Present D. APPROVAL OF AGENDA Councilmember Cave moved to approve the agenda as submitted. Seconded by Councilmember Lee Ayes – All The motion passed. E. UNFINISHED BUSINESS None F. NEW BUSINESS 1. Resolution Canvassing the Municipal Results of the August 13, 2024 Primary Election City Clerk Sindt gave the staff report. Councilmember Lee moved to approve the resolution canvassing the municipal results of the August 13, 2024 Primary Election. Resolution 24-08-2342 CANVASSING RESULTS OF PRIMARY ELECTION WHEREAS, a State Primary Election was held on August 13, 2024; WHEREAS, the ballot included six candidates for two Maplewood councilmember positions, both four year terms; WHEREAS, the city council shall serve as the canvassing board, canvass the results and declare the results of the election; August 16, 2024 City Council Special Meeting Minutes 1 WHEREAS, four candidates for councilmembers shall move on to the State General Election which will be held on November 8, 2022; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of Maplewood, Ramsey County, Minnesota, acting as a canvassing board on August 16, 2024, hereby declares: 1. The following results from the August 13, 2024, State Primary Election as specified by the Abstract of Votes Cast: Councilmember Candidates (two four-year seats): Rebecca Cave 1044 Cedric Allen Mantovani 200 Nikki Villavicencio 1366 Lynnaia Jacobsen 486 Alex Kline 669 Stephen Fitze 989 2. The four candidates who received the highest number of votes for Council Member at Large in the Primary Election are Rebecca Cave, Nikki Villavicencio, Alex Kline and Stephen Fitze and shall have their names placed on the ballot for the November 5, 2024 State General Election without partisan designation. 3. The clerk is hereby directed to certify the results of the election to the county auditor Seconded by Councilmember Juenemann Ayes – All The motion passed. G. AWARD OF BIDS None H.
