Show respect during comments and/or discussions, listen actively and do not interrupt or talk amongst each other. Be respectful of the process, keeping order and decorum. Do not be critical of council members, staff or others in public. Be respectful of each other’s time keeping remarks brief, to the point and non-repetitive. At the workshop, the Purple Line project team will be presenting conceptual layouts for two roadway and transit design options along White Bear Avenue in Maplewood and discussing two options for the north end point of the Purple Line. In addition, the team will share a public engagement update, and seek feedback from the City Council regarding alignment options and a potential route endpoint. Recommended Action: No action is required. Fiscal Impact: Is There a Fiscal Impact? Strategic Plan Relevance: Community InclusivenessFinancial & Asset MgmtEnvironmental Stewardship Integrated CommunicationOperational EffectivenessTargeted Redevelopment The Purple Line project team is in the process of studying the White Bear Avenue Corridor BRT Route Alternative. The Purple Line BRT will provide fast and reliable transit services to the east metro area. Background: The Purple Line project team has developed two conceptual layouts that accommodate BRT on the portion of White Bear Avenue and Beam Avenue in Maplewood. This consists of a side-running local access and transit lane option (i.e. semi-exclusive bus lanes) and a center-running exclusive Workshop Packet Page Number 1 of 4 E1 bus lane option(see Concept Drawings attachment).The Purple Line project team completed a technical evaluation of these two options. Between mid-March through early May, the Purple Line project team is sharing the evaluation results with the public to solicit feedback on the options to help inform a preferred option. A recommendation on a preferred roadway and transit design concept for the White Bear Ave Corridor is expected to be brought forward to the City Council later this year. The Purple Line project continues to carry two end point options that will serve Maplewood’s North End. Between March 11th and April 12th, the Purple Line project team shared these options with the public to obtain feedback to help inform a preferred option. A recommendation on a preferred northern terminus station is expected later this year. The Purple Line project team will be presenting conceptual layouts and seeking feedback from the City Council on the two roadway and transit design options along White Bear Avenue, as well as two options for the north end point of the Purple Line.
