Parks and Recreation Commission Meeting Minutes
A.CALL TO ORDER
A meeting of the Parks and Recreation Commission was called to order by Chairperson
Mallet at 6:00 p.m.

C.APPROVAL OF THE AGENDA
Commissioner Harris made a motion to approve the agenda.
Seconded by Commissioner Poppa.Ayes – All
The motion passed.
D.APPROVAL OF MINUTES
1.October 20, 2021
Commissioner Poppa made a motion to approve the October 20, 2021 Parks and
Recreation Commission minutes.
Seconded by Commissioner Barton Ayes – All
E.NEW BUSINESS
1.Pleasantview Park Raingarden
Paige Ahlborg, with the Ramsey/Washington Metro Watershed District,
presented on the potential raingarden at Pleasantview Park, proposed timeline
and gave brief overview on the types of projects that the RWMD does with
cities/partners.

Parks and Recreation Commission Meeting Minutes
Paige noted that first 2 years of maintenance is done by RWMD.
Commission members had a Q and A with Paige.
Staff noted they will communicate with other city departments to assess the
feasibility of the proposed rain garden.
2.2022 Parks & Recreation Commission Goal Setting
Audra Robbins, Parks and Recreation Manager, discussed/reviewed the 2021
goals with the commission and led discussion for commission goals for 2022.

I.STAFF PRESENTATIONS
1.Parks and Natural Resources Updates
Audra Robbins, Parks and Recreation Manager, discussed the new programming
partnership with RevSports classes starting in mid-January and.
Ms. Robbins talked about the first Pop Up Snowshoe event at Wakefield Park.
Audra provided an update to the replacement of the Gethsemane playground.
Ms. Robbins gave an update on the ISD622 Community Ed partnership on
upcoming nature programs at the Maplewood Nature Center.
Update on an eagle scout project discussion.
Answered commission questions.

Commissioner Brannon made a motion to adjourn the meeting.
Seconded by Commissioner Harris Ayes – All
The motion passed.
The meeting was adjourned at 7:20 p.m.
