MAPLEWOOD CITY COUNCIL
MANAGER WORKSHOP
5:30 P.M. Monday, April 11, 2022
City Hall, Council Chambers
A. CALL TO ORDER
A meeting of the City Council was held in the City Hall Council Chambers and was called to
order at 5:43 p.m. by Mayor Abrams.
B. ROLL CALL
Marylee Abrams, Mayor Present
Rebecca Cave, Councilmember Present
Kathleen Juenemann, Councilmember Present
William Knutson, Councilmember Present
Nikki Villavicencio, Councilmember Present
C. APPROVAL OF AGENDA
Councilmember Juenemann moved to approve the agenda as submitted.
Seconded by Councilmember Knutson Ayes – All
The motion passed.
D. UNFINISHED BUSINESS
None
E. NEW BUSINESS
1. Intent to Close Meeting (Minnesota Statute Section 13D.03) to Discuss Labor
Contract Updates
City Manager Coleman provided direction to council.
Councilmember Juenemann moved to close the meeting and go into a closed session to
discuss strategies, review offers received from the bargaining units, analyze fiscal
considerations, and to develop negotiation positions for the City’s seven collective
bargaining units, Pursuant to Minnesota Statutes Section 13D.03,Subd. (b).
Seconded by Councilmember Cave Ayes – All
The motion passed.
Mayor Abrams closed the meeting at 5:45 p.m.
Present at the closed session: Mayor Abrams, Councilmember Juenemann,
Councilmember Knutson, Councilmember Villavicencio, Councilmember Cave, City
Manager Coleman, Assistant City Manager/HR Director Darrow, Public Safety Director
Bierdeman, & Ann Antonsen, Vice President with Baker Tilly.
