CALL TO ORDER A meeting of the Parks and Recreation Commission was held remotely via Zoom and called to order by Chairperson Molstad at 6:00 p.m. B. ROLL CALL Commissioners Craig Brannon, Commissioner Present Kristina Koopman, Commissioner Present Vickie Lee-Her, Commissioner Present Terri Mallet, Commissioner Present Dorothy Molstad, Chair Present Karen Poppa, Commissioner Present Kimii Porter, Commissioner Present Staff Audra Robbins, Parks and Recreation Manager Present Nikki Villavicencio, City Council Liaison Absent C. APPROVAL OF THE AGENDA Commissioner Mallet made a motion to approve the agenda. Seconded by Commissioner Brannon. Ayes – All The motion passed. D. APPROVAL OF MINUTES 1. April 21, 2021 Commissioner Mallett made a motion to approve the April 21, 2021 Parks and Recreation Commission minutes. Seconded by Commissioner Brannon Ayes – All Wednesday, April 21, 2021 Parks and Recreation Commission Meeting Minutes E. NEW BUSINESS 1. Swearing in of New Commission Members Audra Robbins, Parks and Recreation Manager, swore in and introduced the two new members: Kristina Koopman and Vickie Lee-Her. 2. Garden in a Box Project at Mississippi Play Area Mollie Miller, a member of the Maplewood Environmental & Natural Resources Commission, shared about the Garden in a Box Project at the Mississippi Play Area. 3. Vista Hills Tennis Court Replacement Audra Robbins, Parks and Recreation Manager, shared about the tennis court and basketball court replacement at Vista Hills Park. F. UNFINISHED BUSINESS G. VISITOR PRESENTATIONS H. COMMISSION PRESENTATIONS Commissioner Porter brought up that she would like to see some signage in the parks. This will be added to the next agenda. I. STAFF PRESENTATIONS 1. Parks and Recreation Update Audra Robbins, Parks and Recreation Manager, shared about the playground fire at Gethesmane Park. Major damage was sustained. The City is moving ahead with replacing the equipment. Hopefully it will be replaced by fall. Ms. Robbins also shared that the Wakefield building has opened again to rentals. The observation deck at the Nature Center is complete. The first in-person class is scheduled at the Nature Center for June 4th. Recreation staff from the City met with the staff at the YMCA to work toward coordinating recreational activities. J. ADJOURNMENT Commissioner Brannon made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Seconded by Commissioner Porter Ayes – All The motion passed. The meeting was adjourned at 7:04 p.m.
