A. CALL TO ORDER
A meeting of the Parks and Recreation Commission was held remotely via Zoom and
called to order by Chairperson Molstad at 6:02 p.m.

C. APPROVAL OF THE AGENDA
Commissioner Mallet made a motion to approve the agenda.
Seconded by Commissioner Poppa. Ayes – All
The motion passed.
D. APPROVAL OF MINUTES
1. October 21, 2020
Commissioner Villavicencio made a motion to approve the October 21, 2020
Parks and Recreation Commission minutes.

E. NEW BUSINESS
1. Nature Center Task Force Update
Audra Robbins, Parks and Recreation Manager, gave an update on the progress
being made with the Nature Center Task Force.
2. Parks and Recreation Programming Task Force Update
Neil Breneman, Recreation Supervisor, gave an update on the progress being
made with the Parks and Recreation Programming Task Force.

H. COMMISSION PRESENTATIONS
1. Commissioner Villavicencio Farewell
Audra Robbins, Parks and Recreation Manager, congratulated Nikki on her
recent election to the City Council and thanked her for her service on the Parks
and Recreation Commission.
I. STAFF PRESENTATIONS
1. New Natural Resources Coordinator
Audra Robbins, Parks and Recreation Manager, announced that Carole Gernes,
a former naturalist at the Maplewood Nature Center is the new Natural
Resources Coordinator.
2. Nature Center Trail Improvements
Audra Robbins, Parks and Recreation Manager, gave an update on the progress
of the improvements to the Nature Center trail improvements.
3. Tree Planting
Audra Robbins, Parks and Recreation Manager, gave an update on the status of
the 38 trees that were planted using funds from the grant.
4. New Roof on Hazelwood Building
Audra Robbins, Parks and Recreation Manager, shared that the roof has been
replaced on the building and shelter at Hazelwood Park.
5. Warming Houses/Skating Rinks
Audra Robbins, Parks and Recreation Manager, gave an update on the status of
the ice making at the rinks throughout Maplewood. Neil Breneman, Recreation
Supervisor, shared that the warming houses are scheduled to reopen on January
10, 2021.
6. Giving Tree
Audra Robbins, Parks and Recreation Manager, shared information about the
giving tree organized by the Police Department to provide gifts for 97 children
and senior citizens in the community. The gifts were delivered by Public Safety
staff.

The motion passed.
The meeting was adjourned at 7:15 p.m.
