Discussion on Diversity of Religions in Maplewood (Commissioners Kringle and Simon)
The goals for this panel would be to educate the citizens of Maplewood about the different
religious communities that practice in our city. Hopefully a symposium will create more
understanding by increasing our knowledge of these religions and there practices.
Following are items to be discussed:
1. We need to select a time either in February or March to do this.
2. We would like to have it at the Maplewood Community Center, where it would be a
public discussion, and simultaneously it could be broadcast to Maplewood citizens.
3. We could invite the Vietnamese church, the Moslem mosque, the Buddhist Temple, and
the Hmong Alliance Church to attend. Any others?
4. We would develop questions that we want all the presenters to answer in a 5-10 minute
presentation.
5. Questions from the audience would have to be written down and the moderator would
ask the panelists these questions.
6. We would need to have a moderator for this event. Commissioner Brandt has indicated
that he would be interested in doing this.
