Members Present: Rita Ander, Joan Wurdeman, Elmo Mattox, Gordie Heininger, Carol Cude, and
Tammy Nadzieja
Ex-officio: Lt. John Banick
Guest: Barbara Damchik-Dykes
Guest Speaker: Sia Lo, Chief Prosecutor for St. Paul
I.Called to Order: The meeting was called to order June 4, 2002.
II. Approval of Minutes: Motion was made to approve the minutes as written. It was seconded
and it was passed.
III. Approval ofAgenda: Motion was made to approve the Agenda. It was seconded and it was
passed.
IV. Old Business:
A. Speaker on Hmong culture: Sia Lo, speaking about his family's role in Laos,
emigration here, Hmong funerals, family traditions, problems between 2 cultures.
B. Bylaws—hold over until September—time was short.
C. Checklist for possible speakers—tentatively approved with 2 additions.
D. Review draft of Acts of Bias handed out - to look at this summer.
V. New Business: No new business.
VI. Reports:
No National Night Out at City Hall—only neighborhood meetings as set up by the
neighborhood groups.
VII. Interview:
Barbara Damchik-Dykes—recommended to City Council.
VIII. Motion to adjourn, seconded.
