At its June 10 meeting, the Maplewood City Council approved replacing tennis courts at Sherwood Park
on Kennard Street.
City staffers said in a report that many of Maplewood’s tennis courts are “past the point of surface
repairs and need to removed or replaced.”
The council approved the bid selected by city staff to replace the courts, which totalled $66,026. The
project will be funded by 2019 Capital Improvement Plan funds.
In accordance with the Parks System Master Plan, the Sherwood Park tennis courts were chosen for
replacement in 2019.
The plan, adopted in 2015, identified taking care of the existing park system as “Maplewood’s highest
community priority,” which “means reinvesting in and upgrading parks and facilities.”
