CALL TO ORDER A meeting of the Heritage Preservation Commission was held in the City Hall Council Chambers called to order by Chair Boulay at 7:05 p.m. B. ROLL CALL Commissioners Commissioner Leon Axtman Present Chair Peter Boulay Present Commissioner Bob Cardinal Absent Vice Chair Richard Currie Present Commissioner Margaret Fett Present Commissioner John Gaspar Present Commissioner Frank Gilbertson Present Staff Natural Resources Coordinator, Ginny Gaynor Present C. APPROVAL OF THE AGENDA Vice Chair Currie made a motion to approve the agenda. Seconded by Commissioner Fett Ayes – All The motion passed. D. APPROVAL OF MINUTES 1. June 14, 2018, HPC Meeting Minutes Vice Chair Currie made a motion to approve the minutes from the June 14, 2018, HPC Meeting. Seconded by Commissioner Fett Ayes – All The motion passed. E. NEW BUSINESS 1. Gold Line BRT and Section 106 Review Process Natural Resources Coordinator, Ginny Gaynor, gave the commission an overview of the project and review process. Thursday, August 9, 2018 Heritage Preservation Commission Meeting Minutes MINUTES MAPLEWOOD HERITAGE PRESERVATION COMMISSION 7:00p.m., Thursday, August 9, 2018 Council Chambers, City Hall 2. Preserve Minnesota Conference Natural Resources Coordinator, Ginny Gaynor, gave a reminder to the commission that the annual conference is coming up and the commission is required to send at least one member. The conference coincides with the September HPC meeting. Chair Boulay made a motion to cancel the September HPC meeting. Seconded by Vice Chair Currie Ayes – All The motion passed. F. UNFINISHED BUSINESS G. VISITOR PRESENTATIONS 1. MAHS Bob Jensen, President of the Maplewood Area Historical Society, updated the commission on upcoming events at the Bruentrup Heritage Farm. He also informed the commission that due to the reduction in funding from the City, he will be cutting back his hours spent working for MAHS. Commissioner Gilbertson made a motion to recognize Bob Jensen’s contribution to the Heritage Preservation Commission, to request review of the reduction in funding from $5000 to $2000, and the potential return of that funding to it’s previous amount or more. Seconded by Commissioner Axtman Ayes – All The motion passed. H. COMMISSION PRESENTATIONS 1. Rush Line BRT Stations Commissioner Axtman updated the commission on the status of the Rush Line BRT Stations since attending his most recent committee meeting. 2. Updates on History Videos Natural Resources Coordinator, Ginny Gaynor, led a discussion on the progress of the history videos. 3. Gladstone Savanna Event Natural Resources Coordinator, Ginny Gaynor, recapped the Gladstone Savanna Event with commission members. STAFF PRESENTATIONS J. ADJOURNMENT Commissioner Axtman made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Seconded by Vice Chair Currie Ayes – All The motion passed. The meeting was adjourned at 8:30 PM.
