The city council shall act as the canvassing board, canvass the results and declare the results of the election. The four candidates who received the highest number of votes in the Primary Election are Marylee Abrams, Kevin Berglund, Kathleen A. “Kathy” Juenemann,andNikki Villavicencio.These four candidates will move on to the StateGeneral Election which will be held on November 6, 2018. Recommended Action: Motion to approve the resolution canvassing the results of the August 14, 2018 Primary Election. State Statute 205.065 subd. 5 requires the canvassing board convene on the second or third day after the primary to canvass the election results. Background The results from the August 14, 2018 Primary Election for Maplewood Councilmember are: Councilmember Candidates: Marylee Abrams2044 Kevin Berglund1417 Tyler Hamilton 1159 Kathleen A. “Kathy” Juenemann 2393 Nikki Villavicencio1497 Packet Page Number 1 of 10 F1 Ramsey County has provided an Abstract and Return of Votes Cast detailing the primary election resultsfor the councilmember positions. Per State Statute 205.065, the governing body of a city conducting any election shall act as the canvassing board, canvass the results, and declare the results ofan election. The two candidates for each office who receive the highest number of votes, or a number of candidates equal to twice the number of individuals to be elected to the office, who receive the highest number of votes, shall be the nominees for the office named. Thus, the top four candidateswill be on the November General Election.
