MAPLEWOOD HERITAGE PRESERVATION COMMISSION

1. CALL TO ORDER
A meeting of the Heritage Preservation Commission was held in the City Hall Council
Chambers and called to order by Vice Chair Currie at 7:00p.m.

3. APPROVAL OF THE AGENDA
Commissioner Rudberg moved to approve the agenda.
Seconded by Commissioner Gaspar Ayes – All
The motion passed.
4. APPROVAL OF MINUTES
a. January 9, 2014 HPC Meeting
Commissioner Creager moved to approve the January 9, 2014 minutes.
Seconded by Commissioner Gaspar Ayes – All
The motion passed.
5. NEW BUSINESS
a. 2013 Demolition Report
Ginny Gaynor, Natural Resources Coordinator, presented the 2013 Demolition
Report and discussed it with the commission.

Commissioner Creager moved to approve the 2013 Demolition Report.
Seconded by Commissioner Gaspar Ayes – All
The motion passed.
b. Heritage Award Nomination
Vice Chair Currie discussed the background of the Heritage Award nominees.
The Heritage Preservation Commission voted to award the 2013 Maplewood
Heritage Award to Robert Jensen.
6. OLD BUSINESS
a. 2014 Goals
Ginny Gaynor, Natural Resources Coordinator, discussed the 2014 goals and
answered questions of the commission.
Commissioner Creager moved to approve the 2014 Heritage Preservation
Commission goals.
Seconded by Commissioner Rudberg Ayes – All
The motion passed.
b. 2014 Project Assignments
Ginny Gaynor, Natural Resources Coordinator, discussed the project schedule
and assignments with the commission.
Commissioner Creager moved to approve the 2014 Project Assignments.
Seconded by Commissioner Gaspar Ayes – All
The motion passed.
c. Historic Context Study
Bethany Gladhill, consultant with Thomas Zahn and Associated, presented
preliminary themes for the context study and gathered input from commissioners.
7. VISITOR PRESENTATIONS

8. MAPLEWOOD AREA HISTORICAL SOCIETY UPDATE
Ginny Gaynor, Natural Resource Coordinator informed the commission of upcoming
events at the Maplewood Area Historical Society.

9. COMMISSION PRESENTATIONS
Commissioner Currie presented information regarding historical buildings that have been
saved in Dinkytown.
10. STAFF PRESENTATIONS
a. 2014 Council Liaison
Ginny Gaynor, Natural Resources Coordinator, informed the commission that the
2014 City Council liaison is Councilmember Koppen.
b. Electronic Commission Packets
Ginny Gaynor, Natural Resources Coordinator, asked for volunteers to receive
their commission packets electronically, rather than paper copies. Commissioner
Rudberg and Commissioner Gilbertson agreed voluntarily to try it.
11. ADJOURNMENT
Commissioner Currie moved to adjourn the meeting.
Seconded by Commissioner Gilbertson Ayes – All
The motion passed.
The meeting was adjourned at 9:15PM.
