D.........URN.........M...NT... ......I> > The meeting was adjourned at 8:40 p.m. January 24, 1991 Hi, Betsy! Please see the article on page 6A of the January 23, 1991 , Maplewood Review covering Weaver School ' s Martin Luther King activities last week. As you may know, I had something to do with bringing the elements together which resulted in this story. I would like to promote something being done in the schools during Black History Month also, perhaps at the secondary level, Ald I ' d appreciate any direction you may give me. I feel that giving recognition to schools and teachers who are taking the initiative to multiculturize the curriculum raises public consciousness of our cultural diversity and par- ticularly inspires teachers to find a place in their own in- structional programs to address the interests and concerns of a wider spectrum of our population. I will see you at the February 4 meeting of the MCGFDA Committee. Please call me before that time if you can suggest a Dist. 622 school or program deserving of spotlight in the press for its activities during Black History Month. Sincerely, Damon Vassar
