1 . MINUTES--M/S/A the minutes of the January 2, 1990 meeting.
2. OLD BUSINESS
A. Breakfast/lunch--As an alternative idea to the "bring a
guest to breakfast" idea, Karla suggested short breakfast
meetings featuring a speaker on an HR topic which would
be open to the public.
B. Committees--There was discussion on forming committees
on various topics including housing, racicm (outreach
and education) , senior citizens/people with disabilities,
students. Scott suggested that we form commitees defined
in functional terms. Dawn suggested that a committee or
members of the commission should talk with students in
the schools. The possibility of sending a letter to the
student councils of the local middle schools and high
schools asking for representatives was also raised. The
matter of committes was tabled until the March meeting.
Karla will check with the League or with other commis-
sions for ideas on committee structure.
C. Annual Report--The commission made several changes to
last year' s annual report which is stored in the computer
at city hall . Karla will submit the corrections/changes
to the city so that we may review the draft at the next
meeeting.
D. Articles--A reminder to commission members that we want
to keep the commission' s name in the Maplewood Review.
The suggestion was made that future atricles might be
tied to potential upcoming changes in the commission.
E. There was a quick review of the cable TV taping done by
Scott, Pat, and Karla. We have a tape of the program
for our files. Efforts by the commissioners to pub-
licize Martin Luther King day were reviewed. The com-
mission received a thank-you letter from Human Rights
Award recipient Pat Svendsen.
