Several requests for potential commission members was issued through local papers. illiamson will contact City Manager for progress of applicants. Human Rights Day activities 5. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day recognition 6. Human Rights Award 7. No Fault Training Goals progress: 1, Potential members 2. Williamson will check with City Manager regarding annual report 3. News releases to schools regarding Human Rights Day 4. Need more visibility (publicity) 5. Need more information disseminated 6. No action planed 7. State Department planning more sessions Suggestion that local police be made aware of Human Rights and function of commission made by Karla Sand. If budget allows, commission members attending annual meeting, September 19-20 in Plymouth will be reimbursed. Any member interested in attending, contact Rostron immediately. Human Rights Day will be observed December 3, 1986. PFG complaint - no action. report from Kathleen Hupalo, Minn. Dept. of Human Rights: A thank you from Gary Gorman. The Mobile Unit has visited 6 towns in the state, taking complaints. Has had contact with t.v. , radio and several groups in these towns, speaking on Human Rights. Any questions you have can be answered by her. No Fault Grievance training will be given this fall. Special mediation training will also be given. Movies have beeniown to interested groups. Commercials have been made for cable t.v. on employment discrimination Mobile Unit has branched out from the 6 towns Kathleen distributed brochures: "The Minnesota Human Rights Act as it applies to Employment" Public Accommodations and Your Rights" The Minn. Human Rights Act as it applies to Real Property" Public Services and Your Rights" Legal Rights of Pregnant Employees" The Minn. Kathleen Hupalo answered questions after her report. An excellent report.
