UPDATE OF GRIEVANCES A. Employment/age--Commissioner Vassar conveyed a list of qrievant'B four desired outcomo� to ro�pond�nt who •xc�ptod all but rehiring grievant. Grievant decid�d not to accept this. Maplewood HRC is discontinuing action on this qrievance. 8. Employment/sex (pregnancy)--Commissioner K. Sand reported that grievant said she wanted job back; employer (Sears) said could have it back for original hours hired for; grievant not want that--wanta to "sue." Maplewood HRC discontinufng action on this case. C. Volunteer fire dept.--Commissioner Williamson heard from the captain in response to her letter. She is still working on this grievance. 0. Commi�eaior�dr Wi l l lamec�n mentioned a new grievance fi led by a young woman who was discharged from employment after movinq in with a male coworker. She will call grievant. 3. QLQ BUSINESS A. Human Rights award will be presented at State of the Citie� luncheon January iB. Five commissioner� will �ttend. Karla haw r�r�t l�tt�r•c� t� nurnindturb, Pat W. has talked with recipient Patricia Svendsen and will send her a letter. Carol will send letterc to paet award winnor� inviting them to the lunch. B. Annual report--Last year's report is in the computor at city hall �c� wd caii �ust edit and update for this year. Members 1 will go through old annual report at home so we can complete at Fwbruary m��ting. l� �. Gail announced that the concensus of city commissions was to forego a per diem for meeting attenda�ce. A recognition dinner will be held sometime this spring at the Fox and Hound for commission members and their spouse/guest. Date will be announced later. D. The issue of a commission logo wa� discussed. Since the city council does not wish individual commissions to have separate logos, it was decided that an annual cover design might be appropriate. Further consideration was tabled until Sept. 4. NEW BUSINESS A. Pat and Sister Claire will represent our commission at the recognition dinner for Mayor Greveau. 8. Th� concept of a bimonthly or quarterly dinner or breakfa�t where each commissioner brings someone from a different background was discussed. We will discuss again in February. D. Suburban Community Channels has asked that up to three members of the commi�sion tape a 30 minut.e 6how on the Maplewood HRC to be part of the "Come for Coffee" series. Scott, Pat, and Karla will attend the January 16 taping. E. Commission members voted to request the city council to reappoint Commieeioners K. Sand and C. Enqel. 5. Gail announced that 1990 census material she has received is urging Hispanic citizens to count selves as such. C. Observance of Martin Luther King day--Sister Claire will contact Premier Bank; Pat will contact Ramsey Nursing Home; Paul presented a M. L. King "poem" which Pat will take to the Macl waod Revlew; D.►wn will po��lbly cantact wam• wchools. D. Karla will write a release on HR award for state league and � the newspaper. E. Pat announced from state league--St. Cloud has disbanded its HR commission; new commission formed in Eden Prairie; league is ' attempting to get a grant for office space and direction in ' hopes of befng more available to the pr�ss, etc. 6.
