ABSENT
Minutes approved as printed. Motion by Dawn Vassar and seconded by Mike
LaClair.
II. Old Business
A. Diversi , Award - All schools in the Maplewood area have had a personal
contact and have been alerted that letters and applications will be sent to
them the first week of January. Deadline for return of applications is March
30. A call will be made by commissioners in February to remind their
assigned schools about the deadline and retum of their application.
B. Annual Report - The following revisions will be needed: information will be
needed by Gail on the League of Minnesota meeting and the Diversity
Award. It was suggested by Gordon that pictures of Commissioners be
included in the Annual Report to familiarize the community with the
Commission and its function.
C. Business Outreach Letter - Letters to be sent out by no later than December
15 to companies who are members of the Chamber of Commerce in
Maplewood.
III. New Business
A. Human Rights Award - It was suggested that the future awards be moved
around to other community meetings in the area.
IV. Reports
A, Pat Williamson reported on the League of Minnesota Human Rights
Commission - met in Roseville. Grievances will still be refened to local
commissions - but the State Human Rights Department wants League to get
involved in helping with administration of the referrals.
B. City of Maplewood - Public hearing held by North St. Paul and Maplewood
on the merger of the Police Departments - no decision has been made as of
yet.
C. Joint School Integration Project - Karla will be contacted by Sharon directly
for members from the Commission to be included on the committee if
needed.
D. Grievances - none.
Respectfully Submitted,
Gordon Heininger
