II. CALL TO ORDER REVIEW OF MINUTES ABSENT Karla Sand Sister Claire Lynch Minor corrections made in the Business Outreach Letters section. Minutes will be approved at the ne�rt meeting due to lack of a quorum. III. OLD BUSINESS � : C. Lea�ue of MN Human Rights Cam,pai�n Thursday, June 17, 8:30 - 10:30 a.m. We will host the meeting in the Council Chambers. We will provide coffee and muffins. City officials from surrounding communities will be invited. Acts of Bias and Prejudice The Commission needs to identify the response network. Commission Vacancv Applicant Shelly K. Strauss was interviewed and spoke about the reasons she is interested in serving on the Commission. D. Open House We need coverage from 5- 9 p.m. One table will be available in the lobby for the Commission. We will try to cover our table with two members of the Commission. Pat and Gordon will be here at 5:00 p.m.. Mike will be here at 6:30. Key chains and broc�'hures about the Commission will be handed out. The Diversity Awareness Award wlii be handed out at 8:30 p.m., and a representative from Premier Bank will be here to present the $500.00 check. . E. Diversity Award All applicants will be thanked in the press release announcing the winner. IV. NEW BUSINESS A. Mike LaClair has resigned effective June 15 because he is moving to Cottage Grove. B. Retirement party for Fulton Klinkerfues on Tuesday, June 1. Karla and Pat will be attending. V. REPORTS A. Lea ,gue of MN Human Ri�hts Commission The League was asked to take over No Fault Grievance training. The League questioned what legal authority they would have if they took over the training. So far no decision has been made. There is an opening for the secretary position for the League. No date has been set for the Annual Meeting. B. Karla met with the Partnership. They are concerned about the number of young people that hang out at the Mall. Karla set up a meeting with Hal Norgard to discuss the internship for the minority police position that we would like to set up for Maplewood. Hal said that there is no money available right now, but Karla is looking at alternate ways of raising the money. C. Grievances Pat is continuing her follow-up on the grievance that was referred to the Commission at the last meeting. Respectfully Submitted, Michael LaClair
