CALL TO ORDER II. REVIEW OF MINUTES III. OLD BUSINESS A. League of MN Human Ri�hts Campai�n ABSENT Gordon Heininger The League of Minnesota Human Rights Commission will hold open meetings for discussion of organizing a Human Rights Committee in your community. One on June 8 in St. Cloud and the other on June 17 in Maplewood. B. Acts of Bias and Prejudice The Commission would like to prepare a brochure/pamphlet along the lines of a First Call for Help book with resources available or where to go in matters of acts of bias/prejudice. Jim Garrett will check with East Community Family Services and Karla will get a list of inembers of the Partnership. C. Commission Vacancv The Commission will recommend Shelly as a replacement for Dawn Vassar to complete her term to 12/94. Pat Williamson will talk to persons at the Priory regarding Sister Claire and her term on the Commission and the possibility of making her an honorary member. \ Need to advertise open positions in Maplewood in Motion and local papers in August. D. Open House Went very well and the Commission's booth was very popular with its maple leaf rings. Possibly, the Commission could join together with other city groups to have a booth or presentations; i.e. paramedics. E. Diversity Award The First Annual Diversity Award was presented to the Mounds Park Academy at the Maplewood Open House on May 11, 1993. F. Human Ri�hts Award Will be advertised in the September Maplewood in Motion and put on the Commission's September agenda to be discussed regarding presentation in December. G. Ramsey Count,y Internshi,�, Pro�ram Karla Sand discussed funding with County Commissioner Hal Norgard and of course, there was none this year. We need to consider writing a grant to get some CDBG money for a policy internship program. IV. NEW BUSINESS A. Thank you, Mike, for your service and good luck on your move to Cottage Grove. V. REPORTS A. Lea�ue of MN Human Ri�hts Commission Department of Human Rights received $50,000 to deal with the Sexual orientation change in the Human Rights Act. B. Ci , of Maplewood Adopted a non-voting membership policy. September 18--annual meeting in Shoreview. League will meet in Maplewood in July. _ � . C. Grievances Pat Williamson is working on an age discrimination grievance and Karla is working on a sex discrimination. IV. ADORNMENT A.
