Pat encouraged Gordan and Marie to consider accepting a position as
an officer since she and xarla have already held positions. Gordan
said he would be willing to act as Chairperson anytime after June,
1994
Marie agreed to take minutes for this meeting.
FOLLOW-UP ACTS OF BIAS/PRE I�E
Membera reviewed the listing of resourcee for victims of acts of
bias or hate crimes. Sugges�ions and revisions were made,
�.ncluding liQting a TTY number �or deaf or hard of hearing
individuals to access.
HUMAN RIGHTS AWARD
The presentation of the Human Rights award to Sunshine Nursery will
be held on 2/1�/94, at 7:00 p.m. during an event they are
sponsoring. Over 200 people are expected to attend this event.
Pat will make a brief presentation. A plaque will need to be
purchased (Pat will talk with Terry about the appropriate wording
for the pl�que). Mayor Gary Bastian will be invited to attend.
The media wil� also have to be contacted.

regional meeting sponsored by the League of MN Human Rights
Commission on acts of bias/prejudice. Maplewood has agreed to host

Ghe meeting on Wednesday, March 16, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. The
purpose of this meeting is to help establish a state-wide mechanism
to respond to hate crimes and bia�. There will be a total of eight
meetings offered throughput the state. The League will send out
announcements regarding this meeting but we have been asked to
advertize locally.

March l, so our meeting will be pastponed until March 8, at 7:00

A. League of Minnesota Human Righta Commission: The League held
their monthly meeting on 1/24/94. There was an interesting
presentation on the Native American Treaty Rights, the presenter
was Andrew Favorite. The League was asked to endorse a more
comprehensive state-wide palicy against racial bias/prejudice. 'rhe
League asked for additional information on this prior to making
their decision. The League of Human Rights recently elected new
officers. The new chairperson is .(Pat

B. City of Maplewood: North St. Paul will be setting up a Human
Relations Commisaion. Oakdale is still working on establishing
their commission.
A letter was sent to Jim Garrett thanking him for his service on
the commission. A proclamation will also be eent to him.
A discrimination complaint was filed by a Maplewood city employee.
The city a�tQrney is reviewing the camplaint.
The counci�.approved $800.00 be paid to the Mixed Elood Theater for
a multi-cul'tural presentation entitled: ��Eastern Parade: The
Asian-American Experience. The event is scheduled for March 14,
1994, with a presentation at 8:00 a.m. and one at 9:00 a.m. at the
North High School Auditorium.

ANNL7AL REPORT
Carla and Pat warked on the 1993 Annual Report. Members present
reviewed their draft. Terrie will input the revisions and members
should have a copy of the draft prior to the next meeting.
