Motion made to approve agenda_ Seconded and moved. Motion made to accept mimrtes from Feb_ 7, 1995 meetiug. Seconded and xnoved. • . : ,�- Ann�ual report: �he members macle favoiable comments on the Iook of the report and noted a few grammatical corrections. Marie wt�l make corrections and have prepared in final fom�at. The report w11 be presented to the Mayor and city counc�. A motion was ma.de and seconded to adopt the 1994 anuual report. Hate Cumes Response: Marie developed a process for the Commission to respond to hate crim.es. The members discus.sed the pros and cons and found it to be cim�bersume_ It's also not clear just what our role is - how far can we go When offering ass�stance to vic�ims? Gordy and Ga�1 will develop another dratt. Puppets Against Racism:lV�arie felt that this pro�am may not be appropriate for the commission to sponsor the first fiime out_ It may be better to have somet.��g less iIItense. A brochure from "SouLs Journey" was passed around. These speakers are story tellers who weave multiculhu�lism urto their stories_ Marie also had a bool:]et of speakers from R,am.Sey County. We considered a topic on crime preventio� We wt�l discuss whai we want to do again. ��a:� : tir• Award letter�, presentations and press releases for I?iversity Award a.nd Poster Contest Edgerton School w�1 receive the Diversity Award at a ceremony on March 27 at 9:3Q am. The Mayor will be asked to present the aw�rd and Marie wiIl also attend. The winning schooLs for the poster cozttest are Presentati.on of Mary aud Mounds Park Academy. PS� wouId l�.e to schedule the ceremony to �ive the entranis theix- certi£tcates and cash awards in Aprii. Mounds Park will schedule any time and asked that it be done at 11 _45 a_m_, which is during their Iunc�h Gordy witl contact the schooLs to set the daies and w�71 try to schedule them for the same dap so tbat Marie can do the presentations. The posters w�l be on display at City Hal1 and the Community CeaLer_ Lyane and Cra1 w� get a news reIease written and subm�ted to the newspapets. Open House: We briefly discusse,tl how to parricipate m the City Hall open house_ The idea of a ^binga-type" game was discussed. This was approved although new members must reside in the city of Ma�lewood_ Can�d.idates for Vacancies: Two of the applicants £or open seats on the commis.sion were interviewec� The metxtbers agreed that they should be approved for memberskip. The candidates are Linda Wainio and �tegina Laroch�Theu�e.
