should go about plauning for a joint regional meet�tg. VJe decided to send a letter to�neighboring
FIRCs outlining our idea and iavite them to join in pl,amm�$ the eveat Gordy offered to send a
letter to HLZC's by Uec_ 1. We agreed tl�t this could also be the idea for a communidy eve� We
discussed what topic to address ansi. s�ettled on domestic vioience_ Lynne w�l contact the Fam�y
Violence Netwo;k abvut speakers_
B. l7iversity aw�d and poster contest mc�eria1s- We made a few changes in the lett�rs
and entry informatio� I�eese will be sent out around Dec. 1_ Afrer they are se� out, each
commissian member is responsi`b1e for co�ng schooZs to see if they h�ve received tbe�- The

A.. Letter to Businesses and graternal prga.ni�rions: We w�1 again send a letter to
Maplewood bussnes.ses and fraiemal orgaIIizations to infoim them of what we do. We wiil mciude
a copp of the anffial report and a poster from ��C. Marie w11 re-wo� the last letter sent

She asked if azryone else could attend as she didn`t know if she coulc�
Linda reported on training she attended on Studerrt Human Riglrts Task Force

Linda w�11 not be at the Dec�ember mee�ng. Carol w11 be gone in Febn�ary.

New Commission 1V�ember Interviews:
Ther�e were four candid�Les presart_ We asked thetn �they prefeffed to be urterviewed as
a group or individually. They we�e agre�le to a group setting. Ea�h commissivn member asked
a question of their choice. A$ei' we were furished, they le$. We made a. first and second choice.
Maue w�l forw-ard this information to Sheme. �
p,,n activity the commiss.on should consider is a more struct�u'ed process to i�erview
qndidates. We like the info�al proces.s, but being more prepared would g�ve us a better idea of
what to look for m our candidates.
Marie announced that Gat� �adn`t bee�a at the past several meetings as a member of her
f�n1y has become verp t1� Since Ga� has moved out of the city, het' memberstnP would expire at
the end of Y995. Marie also said th�a.t she had. be� asked to considex ta�ng a c1a_�.s by her
employer that would gtve her sk�ls in commwnc�ng wrth Persons who are deaf and blind. This
c�ass runs 14 weeks on Tuesda.y nig�s; she would therefore nniss three meerings beginnin� ln
Febraary. She hasn`t yet decided to attend tiie class, hovvever.
Regina and Gordy have both agreed t�o stay on th,e commiission.
