February 6, 1998
Members present: Shirley Jackson, Sharon Cox, Barb Lucas, Pat Marzolf, Linda
Dailey, Brenda Robertson, Kathi Mullin, Kate Jensen, Sue Danielson, Maria
Saliture, Judy O'Claire, Carolyn Jones, Dianne Sandberg, and Bruce Drewlow.
The meeting started at 4:00 P. M. Updates from various buildings about
multicultural events or student groups were given. North High will host the
Second Annual Multicultural Fashion Extravaganza for the public on February
25, 1998, at 10:00 a.m. If you would like to reserve your space call Brenda
Robertson at X6129. John Glenn was awarded a District 622 Foundation Grant to
bring a Hmong gentlemen by the name of Tou Ger Xiog do an assembly. He

the United States. Cowern has had Heart of the Earth perform. Weaver had
Mixed Blood Theater do a Martin Luther King performance.
Sharon Cox reported on a joint integration grant that was awarded to District
622, Inver Grove Heights, White Bear Lake, South Washington County and St.
Paul schools. The grant will provide for a project coordinator to be hired and
to facilitate joint integration projects from the four school districts and the St.
Paul Schools.
Bruce Drewlow reported on the Martin Luther King breakfast at the Hilton
Hotel in Minneapolis. District 622 purchased a table and sent two staff
members, 3 parents and five students. All those in attendance expressed
appreciation to the district for allowing them to attend.
Barb Lucas gave an update from the School Environment and
Outreach/Linkages Subcommittee. The have put together a statement of
purpose and a set of objectives. Those were shared with the committee and
discussion was held to look for overlap.
Kathi Mullin gave the update from the Curriculum sub-committee. An
inservice has been scheduled for sub-committee members and for the .
Curriculum Coordinating Council for March 16 at Skyview from 48 pm. This
inservice will be done by the staff at Hans Christian Andersen School of Many
Voices. The sub-committee will make long range plans after that date.
Bruce Drewlow reported on the work of the Respect all People Task Force. He
presented and explained their charge statement. Carolyn Jones moved and
Kathi Mullin seconded that we strongly support the work of this task force.
Discussion was held about a Zero Tolerance Policy. Motion passed
unanimously. .
Various buildings gave updates on inservice conducted by Family Services,
Inc.
Our next full committee meeting will be on April 23, 1998, in the Board Room at
the District Center starting at 4:00 p.m.
