Minutes
Present - Members: Regina Laroche-Theune, Gordy Heininger,
Carol Cude, Jim Bartingale, Katie Thein Kimlinger, Cheryl
Johnson, Joan Wurdeman Ex-officio: Colleen Dirkswager,
Mike McGuire
I. Call to Order: The meeting was called to order at 7:07 PM
by chair Katie Thein Kimlinger.
II. Approval of Minutes: Jim moved to approve the minutes
of the May meeting as written. Regina seconded the
motion and it was passed.
III. Approval of Aqenda: Cheryl moved to approve the agenda
as written. Carol seconded the motion and it was passed.
IV. Old Business:
A. National Night Out Update - The entertainment will
consist of a back to school fashion show followed by
three sets of entertainment. Commission members
will provide introductions prior to each performance
set. We will also have a display table with a draw-
ing to win four tickets to a performance at the
community theater. A schedule of participation at
our display table was divided among the members.
B. Bias Offense Report - A code table was distributed
which will help us better understand a description
of an offense as listed on the offense report. The
bias offense report from April will be reviewed at
the next meeting.
V. New Business:
A. In-Service - Lori La Bey gave an informative pre-
sentation about views and concerns of seniors.

coaperation and support at last year's Annual Conference In the City of Eden Prairi�.
We are pleased to announce our forthcoming 1996 Annual Conference, scheduled for
Saturday, Sep#ember 26, 1998 at the Whiiney Sentor Center in St. Cloud. The enclosed
flyer will give you some ideas of the exciting programming scope. We believe it should
b� of special interest to your Commission Board members.

Hurnan Rights Award to individuals, organizations or agencies that warrant special
recognition for advancing Human Rights in our state. Please let us have your
recommendation on the enclosed form if you have someone who wamants this
distinctidn.
Once Again, we offer display table/booth at the Annual Conference to each Clty
at no charge. You may dfsplay informatfon about the works of your Ciiy's Human
Rights Commisslon along with any other information you wish to share about your City.

responsibilities?
Yes. I currently work at Minnesota Communications Group which is the umbrella group to Minnesota Public
Radio. Before that I was at Hubbard Broadcasting. In both of these positions I have been involved in Human
Resources. My main responsibilities include; Affumative Action, Equal Employment Opportunity, Federal
Communications Commission responsibilities for license renewal (which entails the above responsibilities). I also
investigate discrimination and hazassment charges. Another major role that I play is in the community. This
includes outreach to minority agencies, working with unconventional sources to recruit candidates including 14 -
1 S year olds during the summer.
5) List other organizations or clubs in the Community in which you have been or are an active
participant:
I am involved, through work, on numerous committees including; local, state, and national levels. I am a board
member on the State Job Services Employer Council as well as the local St. Paul. I was just re-appointed to the
Workforce Development Council for St. Paul. I am also an employer representative on the St. Paul / Roseville
Partnership Governing Board for School to Work. I am a national Chair person for School to Work for the
National Employer Council (NEC).

I was also the Public Relations person for the White Bear Avenue Business Association for a 1'/z years.
Producing newsletters, brochures and press releases.
6) Why would you like to serve on this Board or Comn►ission?
I know my background is an excellent fit. I am very involved and committed to my committees through work in
St. Paul. I would like to bring that dedication into the community where I am a resident. I would bring an
excellent perspective and insight due to my understanding of issues. I am not afraid to speak my mind and I make
decisions based on facts.
