There are still many commission members who are not familiar with the program. B. 'National Night Out' Review -- Colleen and the HRC members who had been present said that generally the event went well despite rain. Next year the HRC desplay should be indoors in the service fair with more free educational samples. The game punch card also worked well. The Maplewood Award went to the "Moms' Club." Bomba's music inspired the idea for a possible parking lot dance next year. C. 'Violence Free Families Initiative': "Together We Can Build a Peacheful Community" -- Colleen reported that the two parenting classes that are part of the community event will take place on October 18 and 21 at 7:00 p.m.. The "Welcoming Places" retail employee training will take place Oct.6 and 12. Fabric and quilters/sewers are lacking for the community quilt to be built at Maplewood Mall on October 16 and 17. The commission agreed to decrease the hours of community quilt building due to shortage of people power: Friday, 10/15: 5:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m., family fun night; Sat., 10/16: 10 a.m. - 2 p.m., quilt building, performance group; Sun. 10/17: 11 a.m. - 2 p.m., quilt building, performance group, closing.
